The new MESSRING load cell wall with integrated 16 bit data acquisition and software for test preparation and evaluation provides the test engineer with a tool with which he can obtain valuable reference data based on data from Realcrash for subsequent computer simulations and in a form which is both simple and convenient to use. Data is captured with a high degree of accuracy, with a maximum non-linearity of 0.3%, eccentricity no higher than 1% and crosstalk at a maximum of 3% between the measurement axes. The sampling rate of the data acquisition system can be adjusted continuously between 5 and 100 kHz, enabling meaningful force / time graphs to be obtained to check the integrity of models of vehicle bodies. The system can be used on all types of crash structures and a large number of barrier attachments, and even on moving deformable barriers in its smallest version due to its low mass. A wide variety of tests can be conducted and a large range of customer test requirements can be met since the 1-3 axis modules are available in the sizes 62x62mm2 (100 kN/Fx), 123x123mm2 (400 kN/Fx) and 223x223mm2 (500 kN/Fx). The modular design also enables individual sensor modules to be maintained and calibrated while the remaining sensors can remain in use. Plug connectors facilitate easy insertion and removal of individual segments. The proven CrashSoft3 software with its interactive user interface guides the operator through a few steps from setting up the test to reading the data and on to the analysis. By incorporating the ID modules in the force transducer, set-up is made significantly easier in this multi-channel system. Automatic recognition of the transducer being used and loading the appropriate sensor data from the sensor database included with the system makes it possible to set up a test with just a few manual operations. Great importance was attached to achieving the highest degree of compatibility by optimizing the sensors, the data acquisition and the software, resulting in a load cell wall solution that combines excellent functionality and versatility with user-friendliness.
